May 2010

James and Thomas have always been very affectionate towards each other, but now they are really starting to play together.  During the month of May James' walking got stronger and more stable, and he loves to push things around - including big brother, who doesn't say no to a free ride!

Local shopping centre Fisketorvet offers a convenient baby play area right next to the juice shop.

James rediscovered the inflatable globe ball, giving Thomas yet another big-brother-learn-to-share challenge...

James has got a huge appetite, and especially loves fresh fruit.  Most often he will suck on a slice of melon or orange very quickly and then hurl the remains across the table... only to find it and have another go after he gets down from his high chair!

Thomas still occasionally likes to play with his computer, currently mostly visiting the Roary the Racing Car web site.  James, meanwhile, is fascinated with keyboards and mice, much to Thomas' consternation.

Other building toys, including a baby version of Stikkelbricks and Thomas' Brio Builder kit; this creation is apparently a snowplow, with Alex the latest toy dog keeping a close eye on it.

Happy Birthday James!

For James' first birthday on May 15, we braved torrential rain to visit a cosy little cafe on the edge of the old Copenhagen fortification; we didn't get to explore the outdoor play area, but luckily they also have a big indoor play area upstairs.  Clearly, he now considers himself one of the big boys, doing his best to keep up with Thomas and Marvin.  Thomas was quite happy to help blow out the candle on the Igglepiggle cake that evening.

More birthdays

And more cake, as Cindy and Jonathan celebrated with a home made Black Forest gateau.  We also had a pleasant walk (with Thomas on his bike) to a slightly farther playground on Volden, another part of the old city fortifications.  We fed swans, ducks, and pigeons, while a heron kept an eye on us from his perch above.  The playground had the usual swings and seesaws, as well as a zipline which Thomas enjoyed tremendously.

And yet more birthdays

Friends and neighbors to Marvin, Maya turned 3 and Mila turned 1 at the end of the month, and we showed up to help celebrate.  The boys especially enjoyed Marvin's toy golf set; James performing quite an authentic hockey goalie position with the purple club!

Sleepy times... James modelling some favourite pyjamas, and snuggling up to Cindy's stripey sweater.  He still wakes up very early, and usually we are joined at 6 am by Thomas when we watch a bit of In the Night Garden together.
