Fastelavn

Fastelavn is the holiday when Danish children dress up in costumes (like Hallowe'en which is only sort of celebrated here); sweet bread rolls with various glazes (fastelavnsboller) are baked, and at various gatherings the children take turns hitting a barrel with a stick until it falls apart and the candy inside falls out (piñata style).

Thomas joined Marvin for the "bash" at Frederiksberg City Hall, proud of his Ironman costume and moving a bit too fast for a steady picture.

Thomas the Palaeontologist

Thomas had a lot of fun with a little kit picked up at the 10-kroner store: a little plastic dinosaur skeleton which you pack into a bit of clay and leave to harden overnight, allowing the young palaeontologist to carefully excavate it with the accompanying tools.  He was very pleased with his pterodactyl and looks forward to collecting more of the set.

More fun at the local shopping centre playground/café

Chicken Pox

They've been going around the day care, and we've been wondering if our boys were immune or something - but finally in mid-february, Thomas got hit, and 14 days later it was James' turn.  Phew, got it over with just in time for our holiday in March - and both boys got really heavy versions, hopefully meaning they are protected from getting them ever again in their lives.
