The notorious Saddle Road, reserved for 4-wheel
drive vehicles and the only way to the road up Mauna Kea, is not actually that
bad and when you take it at sunset, can have some spectacular views
Heading up the road to Mauna Kea visitor
centre, the sun set as we got to around 7,000 feet above sea level
... and came out through the clouds
while the sky was still pink. Everything seemed to have very sharp
focus after all that cloud!
